akihiko is a third year at gekkoukan high and captain of the boxing club. he's the third party member unlocked and focuses on debuff and electric skills.
he's a very kind and reliable senpai, but tends to be pretty socially awkward. he also puts a lot of pressure on himself and has trouble relying on others, which ends up with him getting hurt.
aki's parents passed away when he was young, so he was raised in an orphanage with his younger sister miki. he met shinjiro during this time and they looked after miki together. one day a fire broke out and miki ended up passing away, leaving aki with a lot of guilt and trauma.
he started boxing and exercising so he'd be strong enough to protect his loved ones. i think he also did this to help cope with the loss of his sister, but he's also not the best with his emotions.
throughout the story of persona 3, akhiko faces a lot of hardships. he's forced to finally learn how to cope with loss and grow as a person.

akihiko and shinjiro's personas, polydeuces and castor, are brothers in greek mythology
polydeuces has a small head and large body, which reflects aki's emotional immaturity

akihiko animations have him fighting in a southpaw style, but if the mc has gloves equipped it's the regular right-handed style

♥ why i love him ♥
akihiko.. the love of my life ♥ i first played p3p in january 2021 and i instantly fellfor him! his kindness and social awkwardness is really endearing to me. he's a very
genuine and kind person, always looking out for the people around him. he's also
a bit of a knucklehead and pretty reckless. in his introduction scene he literally gets
his ribs broken while fighting a shadow, and is then upset because now he needs to
sit out fighting shadows. so dumb! jk aki's smart, he just doesn't act it sometimes
anyways.. besides his cuteness points, i also love aki's depth. you wouldn't believe
it if you only played the side games, but aki actually is a pretty deep character. just like
basically everyone in persona 3, aki experiences a lot of loss and has to learn how
to deal with grief. at the start of the game he's pretty emotionally immature. he lost
his younger sister, miki, when he was very young and never learned to cope with it.
shinjiro calls him a 'big kid' and i think that's a really good description. he's a senior,
head of the boxing club, and seems mature, but he's still the same kid on the inside.
shinjiro's death (or coma if you're a cool femc player) is basically the catalyst for
aki to grow up. he couldn't cope with losing miki because he was a scared, lonely
kid. now that he's lost shinjiro too, he doesn't want to be that kid anymore and
doesn't want to lose anyone else. in his s.link he finally starts being vulnerable
and lets out all these emotions he's kept bottled up. i'm probably biased but his
s.links are some of the best in the series and gives him more depth that's missing
from the main story. then reload came and took it away so what's even the point..
side note but i also love his voice, done by the amazing liam o'brien btw. he always
sounds very intense and kinda cocky, but he also has an awkardness to his voice
that's just so perfect ♥ i don't dislike alejandro saab's performance in reload,
but i don't think he quite captured aki's soft awkward side quite like o'brien. his
seiyuu hikaru midorikawa is also amazing i'm obsessed with whatever this is
ok back to whatever i was saying. his s.link is sooo good ♥ i think all of the new
s.links added for femc are great, but aki's is just next level! the first few levels
are pretty chill, just walking home from after school and hanging out at the shrine.
as you do more of them, he opens up more. and since his s.link gets locked until
10/04, which adds a layer of realism i think a lot of s.links are missing. yeah it'd be
fine if i could finish aki's s.link by the end of june, but tying in the main story
just makes it feel much more natural and impactful. also his confession is so
so sweet ; w ; ♥ i feel like most persona romances feel so forced, like the character
drops whatever they're doing and goes 'ok i'm confessing now', but aki doesn't
have this problem. you, the player, have to take initiative in order to date him.
it's actually so annoying that so much good aki content is locked behind p3p.
i adore p3p but so many people write off the game entirely, and atlus is misogynistic
and refuses to put femc in reload. so now a huge portion of the fandom will never
see aki at his best.. and don't even get me started on how they butcher him in
the spin-offs... this guy mentions protein twice in his home game (both times made
sense in-context) and atlus decided to make it his entire personality... okay.........
anyways.. aki is my love for forever and i'm so happy he's in my life ( ╥ ᵕ ╥ ) ♥ ♥
